“Chasing Inspiration”
By: Valerie Walsh, Race4Chase runner and triathlete
Chasing inspiration and
you are always in my heart.
Racing for you is an honor and
you’ll be with me from the start.
And when I am feeling tired,
I remember why I am here,
love wins sweet angel,
the signs couldn’t be more clear.
Chase’s story has inspired many athletes to honor Chase with their competitions and raise money to support CMAK. CMAK established grass root online fundraising campaigns on GoFundMe to facilitate these efforts. We have many compelling stories that have emanated from these competitions which have been a comfort to the Kowalski family and all CMAK supporters.
We have seen many inactive people turn into road racers due to Chase’s inspiration.
Many enjoy following our Race4Chase Baton Program, inspired by one of the first Race4Chasers, Kevin Bresnahan, as he completed his first 1000 miles dedicated to Chase. Race4Chase batons are given to inspired athletes to complete an athletic activity (run/walk/bike/swim/other) in Chase’s memory and then pass the baton and instructions off to another to do the same. The Race4Chase community follows the path of the baton and the stories from the athletes that have taken it up.
As part of our activities, we organize Race4Chase team participation in athletic events so our supporters can meet and compete together. Race4Chase teams will take part as official charity teams at marathons, triathlons and relays across the country such as the 2020 TCS New York City Marathon, Cape Cod Ragnar Relay and Ironman Lake Placid.
Through Chase’s inspiration, our Race4Chase community is growing and committed to improving themselves, honoring Chase and the other students and educators taken from us and strengthening families and communities.
Join the Race4Chase community, participate in our events, establish your own Race4Chase teams in your local community and enjoy the feeling of doing something worthwhile for yourself and your community.
